Whaataapaka marae is located along a private road at the end of Whaataapaka Road in Waiuku. The principal iwi associated with Whaataapaka is Ngaati Koheriki, Ngaati Tai and Ngaati Tamaoho. The marae complex hosts the wharenui Tamaoho, the wharekai Te Kupenga and the wharemoe Te Oohaakii o ngaa Tuupuna.
Whaataapaka marae sits upon a reservation, Parish of Karaka Lot 64D, which was set aside for the purpose of establishing a community plaza for the affiliated hapuu.
